Welcoming
Everyone on the Ridge belongs here — new arrivals and long-timers, all ages, come as you are.
About
The Ridge is a young, self-contained neighbourhood in South Courtenay — tucked up on the rise with ridge and ocean views, threaded with trails, and full of people who wave hello.
People here often call the Ridge a bit of an island — not cut off, just distinct. It's a planned community with its own shape and rhythm, set apart enough that it feels like a place of its own, yet a quick trip from the rest of Courtenay when you need it.
What ties it together is the land and the mix of people. Trails wind between the homes and out toward the views. There are parks to wander, a playground for the little ones, and playing fields for a kickabout on a summer evening. Morning and evening you'll find dog walkers, strollers, and cyclists making the loop.
It's an all-ages place, too. Young families putting down roots share the streets with retirees who've chosen the Ridge for its quiet and its outlook. That blend — kids on bikes and neighbours swapping garden tips — is a big part of what makes it feel like home.
Find your way around
We're putting together a simple map of the Ridge — trails, parks, the playground and playing fields, and where the walks and rides set off from. Check back soon.
This is a resident-led effort — volunteer, non-commercial, and run by neighbours in their spare time. It was started by Ron Taylor, a resident who wanted an easy way for people on the Ridge to stay in touch and to speak up together, with a handful of helpers pitching in along the way.
We're independent of the property developer. This site and the group behind it aren't affiliated with, or speaking for, any builder or company — it's simply neighbours organising for themselves. There's always room for more hands, so if that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
How we operate
Everyone on the Ridge belongs here — new arrivals and long-timers, all ages, come as you are.
We keep things simple and useful: real events, clear information, and small steps that add up.
When we bring things to the City, we do it respectfully and with solutions in mind — good neighbours, good faith.
