More trail connections & protected parkland
The trails and green space are a big part of why people love the Ridge. As the neighbourhood fills in, we want to see those connections strengthened and real parkland protected for the long term.
Background
Being able to walk out the door and onto a trail is one of the quiet joys of living here. As the Ridge continues to build out, the question of how our paths connect, to each other, to green space, and to the wider network around South Courtenay, becomes more important, not less.
We want to be straight about this: we’re watching, not claiming a decision has been made. Trail and parkland questions are shaped over time through the City’s planning and development processes, and the best moment to speak up is early, while options are still open.
Our position
We’d like to see trail connections that make it easy and safe to get around on foot and by bike, and meaningful green space protected as genuine, lasting parkland rather than leftover corners. Good green space isn’t a luxury in a growing neighbourhood, it’s part of what keeps it liveable and neighbourly.
What we’re asking the City
For now, we’re asking to be kept in the loop and given real chances to comment as plans for our area take shape. When specific proposals come forward, we want to speak to them thoughtfully, on behalf of neighbours who care about keeping the Ridge green and walkable. If you’d like to help shape what we ask for, we’d love to hear from you.
